Privacy Policy

Overview

Walkgate is built on a simple premise: your health data is yours. We read your step count to power the app's core feature — nothing more. We do not create accounts, do not store your step data on our servers, and do not sell your information to anyone.

This policy explains exactly what Walkgate does and doesn't do with your data.

Data We Access

Apple Health — Step Count

Walkgate requests read-only access to your step count data via Apple HealthKit. This is the only health data we access. We use it solely to:

  • Track your progress toward your daily step goal
  • Determine when to unlock your blocked apps
  • Display your step count within the Walkgate app

Your step data never leaves your device. It is read locally by the Walkgate app and processed on-device. We do not transmit, store, or share it with any server or third party.

App Blocking

Walkgate uses Apple's Screen Time API (FamilyControls / ManagedSettings) to block and unblock apps. This is a native iOS capability. The list of apps you choose to block is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to our servers.

Data We Do Not Collect

Walkgate does not collect, store, or transmit:

  • Personal information (name, email, phone number)
  • Account credentials (there are no accounts)
  • Location data
  • Device identifiers beyond what RevenueCat requires for subscription management
  • Browsing history or app usage data beyond what is necessary for blocking
  • Health data other than step count

Subscriptions (Gate Pro)

Walkgate uses RevenueCat to manage in-app subscriptions. RevenueCat may collect anonymized purchase data (subscription status, renewal events) to facilitate billing through Apple. This data is governed by RevenueCat's privacy policy.

All payment processing is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. Walkgate never sees or stores your payment information.

Analytics and Crash Reporting

Walkgate may use anonymized crash reporting (e.g., via Apple's built-in crash reporting) to diagnose and fix bugs. This data does not include your health information or personally identifiable information.

Children's Privacy

Walkgate is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from children. The app requires iOS 16 or later.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of Walkgate after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
